Welcome to Narcotics Anonymous

Welcome! This website is for:

  • People who think they might have a problem with drugs;
  • Those wanting help because they have admitted to having a problem with drugs;
  • Professionals who want to know more about Narcotics Anonymous;
  • and Members of Narcotics Anonymous.

Our hope is that this site helps further carry the message that no addict seeking recovery need ever die from the horrors of active addiction. We cannot change the nature of the addict or addiction. We can help change the old lie – “Once an addict, always an addict” by striving to make recovery through Narcotics Anonymous more available to all.

About Narcotics Anonymous

Started in 1953, Narcotics Anonymous is now a global, community-based organization with a multilingual and multicultural membership. Today, NA members hold more than 70,000 meetings weekly in 144 countries. We offer recovery from the effects of addiction through working a twelve-step program, including regular attendance at group meetings. The group atmosphere provides help from peers and offers an ongoing support network for addicts who wish to pursue and maintain a drug-free lifestyle.

The Mountain Area serves NA groups in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia and conducts business with elected trusted servants who are members of the Mountain Area Service Committee. To find out more about the history of Narcotics Anonymous in this area click here.

Literature

  • “I had tried doctors, psychiatrists, hospitals, mental institutions, job changes, marriages, divorces; all had failed. It seemed hopeless, but in NA I saw hope. I met addicts recovering from their disease. I came to believe I could learn how to live without drugs.”

    One Addict's Experience - IP #14
  • “No matter how bad our lives have become, we are always accepted in the Fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous.”

    Self-Acceptance - IP #19
  • “Those who are addicted today are more fortunate. For the first time in man’s entire history, a simple way has been proving itself in the lives of many addicts. It is available to us all. This is a simple spiritual—not religious—program, known as Narcotics Anonymous.”
