NA Recovery Envoys

Bridging the Gap Between Addiction Treatment and Addiction Recovery

Going to your first Narcotics Anonymous meeting alone can be frightening.  Most of us thought twice about attending, wondering if we really belonged there, and even if we did, could these meetings really help?  Many of us experienced feelings of fear about re-entering society after completing a treatment program or a period of incarceration.  We worried that we wouldn’t find the support we needed to keep our recovery going.

This is where the Recovery Envoys of Narcotics Anonymous spring to service.

We bridge the gap between that last day on the inside of a treatment center or correctional facility and the first day of recovery on the outside, where “the rubber meets the road.”  None of us in the rooms of Narcotics Anonymous were able to recover on our own.  We all needed help, and we found it offered freely from the members of Narcotics Anonymous.  We are here to help you, and all you need to do is ask.

How NA Envoys can work for you or your clients

If you, or those you are working with, are being released from an addiction program in a correctional or treatment facility and want to attend Narcotics Anonymous after your release, the NA Recovery Envoys can match you with a volunteer NA member to get you to your first few meetings and help you become acquainted with NA members and groups in your release area.  Here’s how it works:

  • Complete the form below requesting contact with an NA Recovery Envoy, preferably before you leave your facility.
  • An NA Envoy is a member of Narcotics Anonymous from your release area, who has been clean for over a year and is practicing a successful program of recovery.
  • Ideally, they will contact you prior to your release date, arrange to meet with you and attend an NA meeting with you on your first day out.
  • The NA Envoy will accompany you into the meeting and introduce you to other recovering addicts who are also willing to assist you on your road to recovery.
  • The NA Envoy will review the meeting list with you and help you select a meeting for the next day and the days to follow, until you have become familiar with the NA recovering community in your area.
